March 03, 2017 – Farewell Breakfast, Lowe, Swain, Rasmussen, Lee Master, Coleus
Haircut, Gaillardia Arizona Apricot
This morning’s farewell breakfast was a real
feast, not just the food but for the soul. We have to say good-bye to some of
the best people in the mission. Elder & Sis. Lowe, Elder & Sis. Swain,
Elder & Sis. Rasmussen and Elder & Sis. Lee Masters. For the past year
of our service here in the Illinois, Nauvoo Mission we’ve worked with these
good people on a daily basis. There talent, skill, work ethic and love are
stellar and a guide for all of us to follow.
I posted on FaceBook the video I took of “Farewell Nauvoo” sung at this morning’s farewell breakfast for the
departing missionaries: Elder & Sis. Lowe, Elder & Sis. Swain, Elder
& Sis. Rasmussen and Elder & Sis. Lee Masters. This powerful song has
very special meaning for each of us that serve here in Nauvoo. We are all
singing through our tears.
(In four days the song had been shared by hundreds of the Elders & Sisters of the mission, their families and their friends. By Tuesday it had been viewed on FaceBook 1700 times! I was very shocked and pleasantly surprised.)
It is the custom of each departing group to put on
a program or “Show” for all of the rest of us who are not leaving. It seems
that every departing group outdoes the group before with their program, songs, and
skits. This morning was no exception.

Back at work Sis. Johnson and I finished giving the
Coleus their “Haircut.” We finished in time for lunch, then we transplanted
Gaillardia seedlings for the rest of the day. Good day of work.
