Sunday, January 15, 2017 – Freezing Rain in the forecast, Leisurely
Sunday
A very large and cold
winter storm is forecast for the mid-west. We have a 90% chance of an ice storm
over the weekend. Road conditions and driving are predicted to be very
hazardous. Icy conditions are very bad. Last night at our performance of
Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo” we heard that two of our cast members took falls on
ice during the day. They are fine but it
could have been much worse.
As a precaution all of
our Sunday services were cancelled and the historic site will be closed today
as well. Better safe than sorry. I’ve seen reports that some of our neighboring
communities have been hit and hit hard. We’ve been lucky so far. We’ve had
light rain so the ice isn’t bad yet. When it does freeze it will be very bad.
We are waiting for word to find out if all the sites and FM will be closed
tomorrow.
Today has been a
peaceful and leisurely Sunday for Sis. Johnson and I. I’ve had a chance to
catch up on some projects of reading and writing. We were also able to phone
and talk to some of our family back home as well as texting back and forth with
others. Sis. Johnson made snickerdoodles this afternoon. Cookies and hot
chocolate are wonderful on a cold day. It’s been a very nice Sunday.
