Saturday, January 14, 2017 – P’day, Rehearse “Rendezvous in Old
Nauvoo,” Grocery Shopping
Every Saturday for
P-day (Preparation Day) Sis. Johnson and I go grocery shopping. This morning on
our way, we stopped at the Cultural Hall for a half hour and rehearsed our part
of “George & Agatha” in “Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo.” We did this practice
without the help of our director, Sis. Lowe. We’ve rehearsed on our own a few other times. We just wanted to sharpen our
memorization and timing. I think we are
doing very well.
We drove the river road
on our way to Keokuk to do our grocery shopping this morning and once again
there were Bald Eagles in the trees and on the ice in the river. It is an
amazing sight to see so many Bald Eagles. We never tire of seeing them.
It was another very
cold, overcast and dreary morning as we drove to Keokuk. When we arrived in the grocery store parking
lot we weren’t aware that last Thursday’s snow was all melted and had refrozen
as a sheet of black ice. As I drove toward a parking spot my car gently turned
sideways and we just kind of slid for a while. It was a strange feeling to not
have any control of the car. Thankfully there were no parked cars nearby. The
side-slide only lasted about fifty feet and then the car straightened out and
we were able to safely park the car. Every morning before we leave our home we
pray for safety. And once again our prayer was answered. We are very grateful
to the Lord for his protection today and every day.
