Thursday, May 25, 2017 – Service Missionaries Released, Mulching at
Lyon Drug, Planting Pots on Main St., YSS Missionaries, Jared & Tere Arrive
This morning at our FM prayer meeting we got to say
goodbye to two of our young Service Missionaries, Elder Failor and Elder
Farnsworth. Each has served 24 month but not all in Nauvoo. Their first
assignment was as Service Missionaries in Palmyra, NY. They’ve been good, hard
working young men and an asset to FM.
Our work assignment this morning was mulching at
Lyon Drug again. Today we had two volunteer couples helping, Elder & Sis.
Johnson (3) and Elder & Sis. Slater. They volunteered and gave up a couple
of hours of their P-day to help us in the gardens. Both couples serve with Sis. Johnson and I in
the Emma Hale Cast and are our good friends.
They were enormously helpful and worked super hard. We simply couldn’t
have gotten all the work done without their tireless help.
Our next work assignment was to help plant large
terracotta pots on Old Main Street. While we were there planting a threesome of
YSM’s (Young Sister Missionaries) walked by on their way back from eating their
lunch. All three Sisters were very interested in our planting and offered to
help. Richard never turns down a helping hand so the three YSM’s pitched in and
helped plant terracotta pots with the rest of us. What a sight, three beautiful
young women in dresses with work gloves on planting and helping make Old Main
Street beautiful. It was great.
The long awaited day has finally arrived, this
evening our son Jared and his wife Tere arrived with their three sons. The
reason for their visit is to bring their oldest son, Kyle, to Nauvoo where he
will serve for the next six months as a Young Service Missionary here at FM!
We are very excited for
our grandson Kyle. He has been hoping and praying for the day when he would be
able to serve a mission for the Lord. Now after months and years of preparing
and praying, he is finally here. He reports on June first.
