Saturday, October 01, 2016 – Drill & Wire Ghosts, Duck Season,
General Conference
It seemed like Sunday
all day today, of course it wasn’t Sunday because Sis. Johnson went shopping
today and it’s our P-day. While Sis. Johnson was at Wal-Mart in Keokuk,
IA. I watered our little tomato garden and our other potted plants and I worked
on drilling holes in the ghosts we will use to decorate the mission float in
“Boo-tiful” Nauvoo. The parade will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 for the
Halloween festival in downtown Nauvoo.
While I was outside
watering and drilling ghosts I heard the unmistakable booms of shotguns being
fired far off in the distance. It is
clear to me that October 1st must be the opening day of one of the
water fowl seasons in Illinois, maybe duck or goose season, I don’t know. I
haven’t seen any ducks on the Mississippi yet but there are thousands of geese
everywhere.
Of course the reason it
seems like Sunday is that today was General Conference. It’s a day we
missionaries look forward to with great enthusiasm. Like you and everyone else that watches or
listens to General Conference, it warms our hearts and brings peace to our
soul. We love the words of the apostles and Prophets as well as the other
general authorities and auxiliary leaders. Each talk is great and the words of
council are timely and profound.
