Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 – Elder & Sis. Hacking, Elder & Sis.
Burningham
This afternoon we met
with Elder & Sis. Hacking. Sis. Johnson and Sis. Hacking have been called
to be the Co-Chairs of the upcoming event called, “Christmas Walk in Old Nauvoo”
(And Tree Lighting Ceremony.) This annual event here in Old Nauvoo is a huge
community event on the first Friday in December. The expected attendance by the public is
between 500 to 700 people.
Sis. Johnson & Sis.
Hacking have been handed a very big assignment. The “Christmas Walk” will
require the assistance of every senior missionary in the mission. There is a
tree lighting ceremony in the Visitor’s Center with a program, music, food,
live nativity, and decorations. The decorations will also include wreaths,
swags, ribbons and luminaries at each of the historic sites down Old Main
Street. There will be entertainment & choral groups at several locations
including the Family Living Center. Many of the historic sites in Old Nauvoo
will have live Christmas story narrations. Oh. . . did I mention that this is a
HUGE event? Good luck Sis. Johnson & Sis. Hacking, but you’ll need a lot
more than luck, you will need a lot of prayers.
Tonight in our
“Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo” show we had a couple perform a vignette for their
first time. Elder & Sis. Burningham played the part of “Peter &
Abagail.” This part of the show is one of the audience favorites and the
Burningham’s performed it perfectly. In fact, they got to perform it twice
tonight. Our 7:00pm show was completely full so we put on a second show at
8:15. The Burninghams performed like seasoned professionals. They were great.
