Monday, May 9, 2016 – Handcarts
Today it rained off and
on but we still put in a full day on the visitor’s center grounds. We even got
in a trip to the dump/burn pile too. The forecast is for two more days of rain.
Tonight we preformed in
“Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo” twice. Normally there is only one show a night but
when the demand for tickets exceeds the seating capacity of 90, they have us
put on a second show that starts 15 minutes after the first one gets over. For
some reason both of tonight’s shows were filled to capacity.
In the second show,
about a third of the audience were the YPM’s (Young Performing Missionaries)
that came to watch the old folks act. The YPM’s arrived, all 48 of them, last
week. They have hit the ground running
with all day rehearsals for the two Nauvoo Pageants they will be performing. The Pageants start in only 2½ weeks from now
so they don’t have much time left to prepare.
All of our “Rendezvous
in Old Nauvoo” audiences are great but tonight’s second show was even better
than usual because of all the YPM’s watching. They really got into the show;
they participated, cheered, laughed, applauded, hooted and hollered. When the play was over they gave us old folks
a standing ovation. The YPM’s were great. Oh, and by the way, I got all of my
lines right in both shows!
