Friday, May 20, 2016 – Peonies, blowing, Bushnell neighbor
First things first, Sis. Johnson (The Flower Expert!) informed me that I mislabeled two of the flowers in yesterday’s post. The flowers in the pictures were Dahlias, not a Red Peony nor a Yellow Peony. My bad! (I fixed both captions for

And speaking of Sis. Johnson, yesterday she sprayed broadleaf weed killer with her backpack sprayer. Today all of the clover weeds are in shock, they are twisted and miss-shapenned. It will take them at least 2 weeks to completely die. Once they are gone, the grass will fill in nicely and the whole lawn will look much better.
Months ago the parking lot islands had new sod laid down. The grass has been growing very slowly but today it was finally time to mow the new grass for the first time. Unfortunately the islands can’t be mowed with the riding mower so for the first time since I’ve been here, I had to use the push mower to mow.

This morning I was mowing at The Bushnell House. The neighbor, who lives in the house on the east side, came over and introduced herself. Her name is Emily, she offered me some of her kale she has growing in her garden. She’s a nursing student and has been good friends with all of the missionaries that serve and live at The Bushnell House since she moved in four years ago.
She bought the house next door, including the acre lot, for $6,000.00! She said the previous owners hadn’t lived in it for the previous 6 years and it was a disaster. It had several holes in the roof the size of basketballs. The rain and snow that got inside had destroyed the ceiling and flooring. But, she’s been working hard to repair everything inside and make the old mansion livable. She is repairing everything as cash is available, she says, once the inside is done, she will start on the outside. The house really needs a coat of fresh paint.
This evening we had two of the Sister Missionaries for dinner again, Sis. Nelson and Sis. Chapman. We only have two free nights a week. So, we’ve been having the sisters over for dinner once a week since all of them arrived in the mission a month ago. We really enjoy having them over and sharing faith promoting stories and messages together.
