October 10, 2017 – Weed FLC, VC Deadheading & Hedge, Wendy & Kim
Marshall, E&S Wayment
We started our work today at the “Family Living
Center” cleaning, weeding and deadheading. It’s been a month since the last
time we did a deep cleaning of all the grounds and there were a lot weeds that
needed pulling and old flowers that needed to be “Deadheaded.”
Mid-morning we went to
the Visitor’s Center with our boss, Richard Hancock along with Adam Williford
to trim the Yew Bush hedge along the north side of the Visitor’s Center. Adam
did all of the hedging because only one of the machines would run but we got it
all done before the rain started. The Hedge looks much better now.
All morning the sky was overcast and threatening. By
mid-morning we had been sprinkled on a few times but when we broke for lunch is
when the skies opened up and we got some rain. It wasn’t a lot of rain but
enough that we couldn’t go back out again in the afternoon so Richard, our
boss, let us all go home early. Yahoo, it’s nice to get off early once and a
while. But, it did continue to rain and a lot as the day went on. By the end of
the day we had 1.35 inches of rain total. We needed it.
This afternoon we had another one of those “Nauvoo
tender mercies.” Our dear friends, Wendy & Kim Marshall found us. They are
from our old ward in Mesa, AZ and they are here in Nauvoo with a “Church
History Tour.” It was soooo good to see them and we had a delightful visit.
Tomorrow they leave for St. Louis, Missouri.
Tonight Sis. Johnson and
I attended an Endowment session at the Nauvoo Temple. We enjoy attending the
temple as often as our schedule permits and feeling the warm spirit of the Lord
as we do proxy work for our ancestors. It is a double pleasure when we meet
friends there and attend the session together. Another “Nauvoo Tender Mercy.”
