Sunday,
October 08, 2017 – Burningham’s Talk in Sac. Mtg., Serving in the Stoddard Tin
Shop
Another great Sunday and Sacrament meeting talks.
Today we heard wonderful talks by Elder & Sis. Burningham. They were
assigned to speak on positive attitude, optimism and enduring our
challenges. Their talks were excellent
and words we should live by every day.
On this same subject I particularly like the hymn,
“Be Still my Soul.” Especially the first
and third verses:
1. Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side;
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev’ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav’nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
2. Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.
3. Be still, my soul: The hour is hast’ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
This afternoon Sis. Johnson and I got to serve in
the Stoddard Home and Tin Shop. It is on Main Street right across the street
from the Browning Home and Gunsmith Shop. Even though this was the first time
we’ve been assigned to the Tin Shop I think all of our tours went very well.
Several times this afternoon we had so many people
come in we had to split the tours. I would take the first group in to the Tin
Shop in the second room for the Tinsmith demonstration and Sis. Johnson would give
the first half of the tour to the new guests in the Parlor/kitchen. Then she
would pass the group of to me and I would give the second half of the tour. We
made a good “tag team” together.
