October 14, 2017 – Cleaning & Packing, Farewell Dinner with Pres. &
Sis. Hall, Rain
Sis. Johnson and I spent our whole P-day cleaning
and packing for our trip home in two weeks. Sis. Johnson spent most of her time
upstairs in the two spare bedrooms cleaning every square inch. It’s a little
early yet to be doing a final deep cleaning but since we never use the upstairs
bedrooms at all, they can be done early.
This evening before our Rendezvous show we were
invited to the Mission President’s home for a Farewell Dinner with the other
missionaries that are leaving about the same time we are. President and Sis.
Hall prepared a scrumptious meal with all the trimmings and two desserts. You got to love a meal with two desserts.
We’ve been so very blessed and inspired to have Pres. Hall as our Mission
President. Even though we are leaving, Pres. and Sis. Hall will always remain
near and dear to our hearts.
There were actually two Farewell dinners. The group
that is leaving in the next couple of weeks is so large that President and Sis.
Hall had to split us in to two separate dinners. The first was held at the
Mission President’s home last Wednesday.
Tonight’s dinner was
wonderful and we enjoyed socializing with our friends during the meal. Unfortunately
due to our “Rendezvous” performance schedule, most of us tonight had to dine in
our performance costumes and leave immediately after the dinner to be at the
Cultural Hall on time.
This weekend rain was in
the forecast and Nauvoo still needs it. We had a light rain most of the day but
by the start of our dinner at Pres. & Sis. Hall’s home the rain came down
in buckets. It let up just long enough for us to get to our “Rendezvous” show
and then the deluge started up again and stayed heavy for both of our shows.
During our dinner and our “Rendezvous” shows, we heard the tornado warning
sirens go off three times. Fortunately there was no tornado here and all was
well.
