Friday, October 6, 2017 – Our usual leaf blowing, Sis. Corder’s Stack of Pots, Clean Greenhouses during the Rain.

This morning we did our customary list of site leaf blowing. We started at the Women’s Garden & Visitor’s Center and then moved to the Cultural Hall & Family Living Center. Next we blew all of Old Main Street past the Tin Shop & Browning Gun all the way to the Pendleton Log School House. Next we blew the leaves away at the Exodus Pioneer Memorial then drove over to the Information Kiosk on the main highway into town and blew the leaves away there.

Today, our boss Richard Hancock, added a new sidewalk for us to blow. The “Diagonal Sidewalk” that cuts the corner of Young & Main Street had a lot of leaves on it too. But, more important, at the end of the sidewalk where it joins back to Main Street it was covered in Walnuts. There were so many Walnuts a person wouldn’t be able to use the sidewalk safely.  I think we will be blowing the “Diagonal Sidewalk” as a regular part of our Monday & Saturday leaf blowing assignment from now on.

We had a new helper today. Sis. Corder and her husband just arrived in the mission and they will be working at FM. Sis. Corder has been asked to be the new FM Secretary but before she starts learning her duties behind the desk, she was asked to join our grounds crew today so she could get a “hands on” feel for what FM does as well as learn where everything is situated in Old Nauvoo.

All morning Sis. Corder not only dawned a “back pack blower” and worked with us blowing all of the sites and sidewalks, she also continued on with us while we weeded and cleaned other sites and flowerbeds.

Mid-morning it started to rain, not hard but just a constant light sprinkle. Nauvoo lawns haven’t had rain in a month and they really need the watering. Due to the rain, Sis. Corder moved indoors with some of the other ladies to do other tasks for Richard. The rest of the grounds crew continued weeding and cleaning sites. In spite of the rain, we got a lot of work done today.
