Thursday, October 12, 2017 – Pull Carthage
Flowerbeds, Tour bus, Tulip Bulbs, DQ reward
Well, the long awaited
and dreaded day finally arrived; we went to the Carthage Visitor’s Center and
pulled all of the flowerbeds flower pots today. We had a big crew and there was
death and carnage everywhere! Stems, leaves, roots and all were flying left and
right. There was no mercy shown and not a single pretty flower escaped the
massacre!
All summer the beautiful pots and planters of the
Carthage Visitor’s Center have been lovingly cared for by Elder & Sis.
Nielsen (3). They have done a wonderful job and the plant lined sidewalks and
rotundas have been magnificent this year. Unfortunately, they can’t last
forever. It’s fall and not a single one of these beautiful plants and flowers would
survive the first frost.
We can take consolation in knowing that these
flowerbeds in Carthage will be beautiful again. Even as we were finishing and
cleaning up, Richard was already laying out bulbs to be planted in the newly
tilled soft soil. Those flowerbeds will be beautiful again.
We finished our day back in Nauvoo cleaning,
weeding and poisoning “Rogue Trees” in one of the parking lots on Old Main
Street. Meanwhile Sis. Johnson was back
in the potting room at FM washing and sanitizing used flower pots.
