September 9, 2017 – American Duchess River Boat, Packing
For P-day we headed south to Keokuk, IA to do our
shopping and saw a site we haven’t seen before. At the Keokuk Dam on the
Mississippi River there was a River Boat in the shipping lock. It was headed
down stream so Sis. Johnson and I walked down to the Lock observation area to
watch the “American Duchess” move through the lock.
Getting to see a real
Mississippi River boat was a treat. Evidently there are a lot of River Boats on
the river but Sis. Johnson and I have been working and living next to the
Mississippi River for a year now and this is the first real river boat we’ve
seen.
Back from our shopping
trip Sis. Johnson began to pack boxes as we plan for our release in about 8
weeks. We don’t have much room in our compact car and little trailer so a lot
of the Items we’ve accumulated during our mission we will give away before we
leave. However there are a lot of items that are mission memorabilia or
essential items and those we will be mailing home in advance. It’s hard to
believe that we will be going home in less than two months.
