Friday, September 08, 2017 – Work Week is over, Wasp Jet Spray, George & Agatha tonight with Elder Hill

Today we finished a very productive work week by weeding, cleaning and deadheading several more sites in Nauvoo. We did our usual Friday list of sites, we cleaned blew the sidewalks of the Women’s Garden, The Visitor’s Center, The Cultural Hall, The Family Living Center and Old Main Street.

One of the spots we cleaned was up on the hill next to the Nauvoo Temple. There is a large two story parking garage there and the flowerbeds and Lily Grass around the trees all needed our attention. When we finished there, we drove a block to the “White” house. This home is the “Mission Housing” where Sis. Johnson was attacked by wasps and stung a couple dozen times a week ago Tuesday, Aug. 29th. This was the first time Sis. Johnson has been back to the scene of the crime and this time “She Was Packing Heat,” . . . well two cans of “Wasp & Hornet Jet Spray.” Even though the “Burrowing Wasp” holes had been sprayed twice before, the nest is still active. Sis. Johnson enjoyed exacting her revenge on the culprits. Maybe this application of spray will finally do them all in.

Later in the morning Sis. Johnson and the ladies were on the watering truck watering all of the flower beds around Old Nauvoo. These are some of the same flowerbeds we just planted this week like the Yearsley home and the Wm Gheen home. Meanwhile I was at the Visitor’s Center pulling weeds and poisoning “Rogue Trees” in the Liriope beds. It was a good day at work and a good successful week.

This evening in our “Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo” show we had two debut performances. First on stage were Elder & Sis. Nielsen.  The Nielsen’s are our good friends that are the grounds keepers in Carthage. Tonight they had their debut as “Noah & Sophia.” They were great, they hit all of their lines perfectly and they looked like seasoned veterans on the stage. Great Job Elder & Sis. Nielsen.

The next debut on stage was Elder Hill. He played the role of “Dr. Stout” opposite Sis. Johnson and I as “George & Agatha.” This afternoon he met for an hour with us at the Cultural Hall to rehearse his part. In tonight’s show, Elder Hill was perfect. All of the rehearsing paid off.
