September 11, 2011 - Elder Ryan Hale, Cleaning and Planting
This week started with the arrival of a new Young
Service Missionary. His name is Ryan Hale and he is from Pulaski, VA. He lives
with Elder Kyle Johnson and the other Service Missionaries. He was at our home
Sunday night with the other Service missionaries for dinner. We have a good
crew of hardworking Young Service Missionaries.
Today was cool and beautiful. On our way to work
our car dashboard display said it was 47 degrees outside. That may seem chilly
but when the air is dead calm, it’s gorgeous shirt sleeve weather. By the end
to our work day it was in the low 70’s and it was great weather for working
outdoors.
Today we did the usual Monday cleaning and blowing
routine of all of the sidewalks and high traffic areas in Old Nauvoo. This
morning it took us a little longer than usual because of all the leaves that
have fallen on Old Main Street. This is only the beginning; it will get a lot
worse as we get further into the Fall season.
Our boss, Richard Hancock had us planting on the
“Diagonal Sidewalk” this morning. When we finished planting it a month ago we
knew some of the plants might not make it through the transplanting. Today we
removed all of the dead “Rudbeckia” that didn’t survived and we replaced them
all with Echinacea plants. Echinacea seem to be a little hardier. Next
