September 04, 2017 – Duck Season, Elder Kelson, Women’s Garden Sidewalk Bricks
It’s Labor Day so most of the FM employees have
the day off. But all of the Senior Missionaries and the Young Service
Missionaries work every day including holidays so here we are. Also, it’s the
first day of Duck Season on the Mississippi. All morning we could hear shotguns.
It sounded like a war zone.
We have a new Young Service Missionary working with
us at FM. He is from Orem Utah but he also is from the Mid-west. So this is
close to home for him. He’s a great young man and we look forward to working
with him.
Elder Jardine has been working most of the summer
on replacing damaged brick in the sidewalk of the Women’s Garden. It has been a
long hard process because he has other project assigned to him that have to be
done first. In spite of that he is making great progress. I talked to him this
morning and he said there are only two sections of sidewalk left to repair. It
looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Everyplace he has
replaced bricks the sidewalk looks great.
Today was a regular Monday for us; we cleaned and
blew the sidewalks of the Women’s Garden, the Visitor’s Center, the Cultural
Hall, the Family Living Center and Main Street all the way past the Browning
Gun Shop. Along the way we also weeded and picked up downed limbs.
Next we did a thorough weeding and cleaning of the
historic Sarah Granger Kimball flowerbeds. It’s been four weeks since we last
cleaned there and there were a lot of weeds to pull. Then, we finished our day
by doing a deep cleaning of our van. It was way past due for a good vacuuming
and cleaning. It looks much better now.
