Thursday, August 04, 2016 – Edging, Lunch with Starks & Heywoods,
Decorate for Breakfast
While I edged the sidewalk
in front of the visitor’s center, Sis. Johnson was cleaning the grounds in
preparation for our special guest coming on Saturday. She has been pulling
dandelions by hand in the area of the lawn where the guests will be seated. She
already had the grounds looking great, now they will be perfect, right down to
the smallest detail.
I edged the “City Park
Strip” north of the wrought iron fence in front of the visitor’s center.
Normally I don’t edge any of the sidewalks that are part of the “City Park
Strips” of lawn outside of the visitor’s center fence, but this time we’ve made
an exception. We really want every detail of the grounds to be perfect.
Clarence and Gloria
Starks and Jack & Silvia Heywood arrived this morning just before our lunch
hour. So, while they took the Carthage Jail tour, Sis. Johnson & I got
cleaned up so after their tour, we could go to lunch with them.
We went to “Los Charros”
Mexican Food Restaurant here in the town square of Carthage. We enjoyed a
wonderful meal and the best part was getting acquainted/reacquainted and
swapping our favorite stories. It turns out Jack’s wife Silvia is a close
friend with Gloria’s sister, Lucy Schuler. We follow Lucy’s FaceBook posts of
her trips to South and Central America but what we didn’t know was the other
lady in the pictures was Silvia. Who
knew, small world.
After our
"Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo" performance, our whole cast drove over to
the stake center and pitched in to help set up for tomorrow's mission-wide breakfast. We set up for almost 300 that are expected to
attend. Sis. Johnson made 40 centerpieces for all of the tables. They turned
our very nice. We didn’t finish setting up until 10:30pm. Then we had a 35
minute drive back to Nauvoo. It was a late night for us.
