Monday, Aug. 15, 2016 – Work, Jacob & Wendy leave, “Rendezvous in
Old Nauvoo”
While our son Jacob,
his wife Wendy and their family packed and prepared to leave, Sis. Johnson and
I did our morning chores on the grounds of the Visitor’s Center and at the
Bushnell House. While Sis. Johnson was cleaning and blowing the sidewalks I was
fertilizing the planters and flower beds. Last week, Richard Hancock FM’s
Horticulturalist, gave us a 50# bag of fertilizer to apply to all 50 of the
planters as well as all of the flower beds.
About the time Sis. Johnson and I finished our
morning work; Jacob & Wendy were packed and ready to go. We said our final goodbyes. It’s hard to have
them leave; we’ve enjoyed their stay so much.
They hope to be back in Mesa, AZ by Wednesday evening.
Well, now that our
family has left, it’s back to our regular duties and assignments. This evening we performed in “Rendezvous in
Old Nauvoo.” Normally we put on two shows per night, one at 7:00PM and the
other at 8:15PM. However, tonight for
the first time since May, the first show wasn’t completely full so we didn’t
have a seconds show. Summer is winding down and there aren’t as many visitors
to Historic Nauvoo. We may still have some nights with two shows, like around
Labor Day, but tonight was the first time in over three months without two
shows.
