December 17, 2016 – Clean Stake Center, Clean Home, Snow
Bright and early we
completed our assignment to clean the Stake Center. Our Zone has the assignment
all month and we’ve enjoyed the opportunity and the blessings that come with
it.
When we got home it was
more cleaning for Sis. Johnson and I. Tomorrow evening we are hosting our
District meeting and dinner so we have to get our home ship-shape for the
guests. In addition to the cleaning, Sis. Johnson made one of those Christmas
centerpieces I mentioned yesterday. This one will sit in the middle of our
dining table for the District dinner.
We were glad we did our
shopping in Keokuk, IA yesterday. There hasn’t been much snow but there has
been enough sleet and rain/snow mix that the roads are a little slippery. It’s
been nice to actually have a “Day Off” and not have anywhere to go. Today has
been a wonderful, relaxing day. We needed it.
I did have to make one
quick trip to the Nauvoo Market for some items we will need for tomorrow’s
District dinner. The market is only 3 blocks from our house so I didn’t have
any difficulty with the ice on the roads. One of the things I needed to buy was
“Deicing Salt” for our sidewalk. Being a desert dweller my whole life, this is
the first time I’ve had to purchase deicing salt. Chalk up another new
experience for our Nauvoo Mission.
