August 15, 2017 – Clean & Weed Wm Weeks, Brigham Young home, Mulch Diagonal
Sidewalk, Sarah Granger Cast Perform Rendezvous
Our day at work started by cleaning and weeding
the grounds and flowerbeds of the historic home of William Weeks. It also
includes cleaning, weeding and deadheading the large Nauvoo Visitor’s Center
entry flower bed just west of the Weeks home.
Next we continued on our regular rounds of cleaning
and weeding. Our next stop was as the historic home of Brigham Young. We
cleaned and weeded there until our mid-morning break.
Our final project for the day was mulching the
diagonal side walk. For the last few days, Emilie Roper one of FM’s interns,
has been cataloging and planting the fancy, hybrid and specialty Lilies that
were dug up behind the historic home of Jonathan Browning. She’s finally
finished with all of the planting along the Diagonal Sidewalk so today we
finished mulching the full length of flowerbeds along sidewalk.
When we started work
this morning it was mild, overcast and very pleasant. However later in the day
the clouds went away, the sun came out and the humidity was high so it was real
sweating weather. In the afternoon when I finished helping unload mulch I was
completely soaked with perspiration.
This evening I was asked by Sis. Jones (She plays
Sophia in the “Noah & Sophia” vignette) to take pictures at the “Rendezvous
in Old Nauvoo” performance by the “Sarah Granger” cast. We don’t get the
opportunity very often of seeing different casts perform “Rendezvous” so this
was a real treat. Thank you Sis. Jones for asking me, it was a lot of fun, I took
hundreds of pictures! I will burn you a DVD real soon.
