August 14, 2017 – Weeding & Cleaning V.C. & Women’s Gdn., Storm Damaged
Tree Removal, Brown House
Another full day of work on a beautiful day with
mild temperatures. We started with a general cleaning at the Visitor’s Center
and women’s Garden by weeding all of the flowerbeds and blowing all of the
sidewalks. We try to clean the Visitor’s Center and Women’s Garden every Monday
morning first thing.
Next we were off to Old Main Street and blew all of
the sidewalks from the Family Living Center all the way south to Parley Street.
This area is also a high profile area with lots of visitors so we try to clean
it once or twice a week like the Visitor’s Center and Women’s Garden.
While we were blowing
the sidewalks at the corner of Main and Parley Street we noticed the big “Boom
Truck” was parked next to the tree that was split in two last Thursday night in
the “Microburst.” Last week’s storm was very strong and half of the tree was
down on the ground but the other half was still upright. However with the large
fracture down the middle it is very unstable and dangerous and must be removed.
While the tree removal crew gave support, Richard
Hancock was in the bucket with the chain saw cutting down the remaining half of
the tree from the top down. By this afternoon the tree was completely down and
gone. Good work men, Parley Street is now safe again.
After lunch we finished our work day at the “Brown
House” which is where Elder and Sis. Sims live. The Brown house yard, bushes
and flowerbeds have been an ongoing project for the last month. Now that the
front yard has been planted and the grass is coming up, the house and grounds
look much better.
