August 18, 2017 – V.C. & W. Gdn, Browning Gun, FM’s Appreciation Lunch
I got to work all day weeding, cleaning and
blowing with Elder Kyle Johnson and Elder Cantwell. Sis. Johnson stayed home
because she had an upset stomach. However she was doing much better when I got
home from work.
We started weeding and blowing at the Women’s
Garden. While Elder Kyle Johnson and Elder Cantwell worked their way to the
Visitor’s Center and blew those sidewalks I was able to weed all of the
flowerbeds in the Women’s Garden. Since we weed, deadhead and clean the gardens
every other week or so, the follow up cleaning is getting much easier to do.
There are fewer and fewer seeds to pull.
Our next work site was in the Day Lily beds in the
back yard of the Jonathan Browning Home and Gunsmith Shop. It’s been several
weeks since we pulled weeds back there and there was a lot. Some of the wild
grasses were waist high and in full tassel.
We finished our day at the Visitor’s Center in the
Liriope (Lily Grass) beds again. We got a lot done because we didn’t run into
any Poison Ivy. That was nice. Now all of the Visitor’s Center Liriope beds
look much better. We just have a few left to do and the whole Southeast corner
of the Visitor’s Center block will be done.
Today the bosses at FM threw an “Appreciation
Lunch” for the staff and missionaries at FM. In the next few days all of the
summer workers will be leaving FM and going back to school. In the next few
weeks a large number of Senior Missionaries will also be leaving because their
year and a half of service is over. The bosses really went all out for this
thank you lunch, they served us BBQ’d steaks! Mmmm-Goood!
