Sunday, September 18, 2016 – Sunday, a day a rest, Jim & Betty
Leave for home
Today was a good day of
rest and recuperation after a fun week of wall-to-wall work, historic site
seeing and tours. After this morning’s church meetings we took it easy for the
rest of the day. Not only did our guests Jim & Betty Burk need the break
but so did Sis. Johnson and I.
Late this afternoon we
were off to Ft. Madison, Iowa to the Amtrak Station. According to their ticket,
Pam’s parents, Jim & Betty Burk needed to be there an hour and a half
early. I don’t know why Amtrak wanted them there so early; the station was open
but unstaffed. For the next hour and fifteen minutes we were the only people
there. Fortunately, we had our “Yahtzee” game in the car so we kept ourselves
busy playing Grandma Burk’s favorite game. And of course, Grandma won, she
always wins!
We’ve had a wonderful
week with Sis. Johnson’s parents. We did it all, we saw it all and we ate it
all! We are sorry to see them go but this was the first time they’ve ever been
to Nauvoo. They really enjoyed everything here, seeing all of the historic
sites and taking the tours.
