Sunday, September 04, 2016 – Fast &Testimony Mtg, Trail of Hope,
Historic Homes
Today is Nathan,
Valerie and Samantha’s last full day with us. Since it’s their last day we had
a lot of things on our agenda for them to see and do before they leave. They drive to St. Louis tomorrow morning
early to catch their flight home.
Today was fast Sunday
so we left the house at 7:10AM to be on time for the 7:50AM start of Fast &
Testimony Meeting in the Nauvoo Ward with all of the other missionaries. Our Fast & Testimony meeting was very
special because so many departing Seniors and YSSM’s bore their testimonies one
last time before they go home. Their testimonies were warm and heartfelt with
many tears shed. It was a very good meeting.
The rest of our day was
a blur. Here is where we went and what we saw in order: The trail of Hope, The Memorial
to the Pioneers that died during the Exodus, The Mississippi River, Nauvoo’s
historic post office, The John Taylor home, The Brigham Young home, The Lyon
Drug & Variety Store, The Lyon Drug Herb Garden, The Lucy Mack Smith home,
the Seventies Hall and Seventies Quorum membership rolls, and the Heber C.
Kimball home.
It was a very full day
but in spite of all of the venues we visited today and yesterday, Nathan &
Valerie still only saw about half of the historic sites and events there are
here to see and do.
Nathan & Valerie
plan to return next summer during the pageants season in July. They will bring
their whole family to experience everything there is to see and do. They are looking forward to next summer. Sis.
Johnson and I are really looking forward to their next visit. We’ve enjoyed
their 4 nights & 3 days with us.
