Saturday, July 16, 2016 – “The Promise”, Dinner at Hotel Nauvoo,
Historic sites, “Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo” with Gurr’s
This afternoon we met
up with the Gurr family for the 2:00pm show of “The Promise” put on by the
YPM’s (Young Performing Missionaries). It was wonderful. The YPM’s do a great
job in all of their shows here in Nauvoo.
And they are truly remarkable young people. There are 42 YPM’s and they
perform in 10 different shows during the two months they are here. All day,
every day, they move from venue to venue performing different shows. Each show requires them to memorize all of
the songs, dance routines and dialog. And, even more remarkable, when they
first got here they only had two and a half weeks to rehearse before they
started performing. Like I said these
young people are really remarkable.
Next we were off to tour
two of the old historic homes in Nauvoo. The Heber C. Kimball home and the
Wilford Woodruff home. After the tours, Adam & Ruth Gurr treated us to
dinner at the all you can eat buffet at the Hotel Nauvoo. Mmmm Goood!
The Gurr’s last stop for
the day was to watch Sis. Johnson and I perform in “Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo”
at the Cultural Hall. I handed my camera to Ruth and she took pictures of Sis.
Johnson and I performing. These are the first pictures we have of us live on
stage. In the past I’ve only been able to post pictures of our rehearsals. So, thanks to Ruth’s skill with my camera, we
finally have live shots of us on stage during our performance.
