Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 – Ricke David Johnson Born, Women’s Garden
Tulips, Temple Housing, Pumpkin Carving, Temple
The big news of the day
was the birth of our 24th grandchild, Ricke David Johnson. Our son,
Daniel and his wife Mindy Gibbs Johnson were blessed with a healthy baby boy at
7:43AM. He came into the world at a healthy 7lbs, 15oz. Mom and baby are doing
fine. Our congratulations, love and prayers to Dan & Mindy and their
family. What a blessing and what a beautiful baby.
Sis. Johnson and I had
another busy day at work. We started by
planting Tulip bulbs in the last flowerbed in the Women’s garden at the
Visitor’s Center. We couldn’t plant this last flowerbed earlier because the
Tulip bulbs hadn’t arrived from Holland yet.
We finished our work day
cleaning the last of the Temple Missionary housing. There are over a dozen
duplexes and triplexes and they all have one or more small gardens. We pruned,
weeded, raked and cleaned all of them.
This weekend the Town of
Nauvoo will hold their annual Halloween pumpkin Walk, parade and festivities in
downtown Nauvoo. The main boulevard through Nauvoo will be lined with 500
Jack-O’-Lanterns. Today the pumpkin carving got started in earnest. Dozens of
pumpkin carving volunteers per hour arrived in shifts all day from 8:00AM to
8:00PM.
Sis. Johnson and I ended
our day by attending a Temple endowment session. We enjoy living so close to
the Temple now. Our home in Nauvoo is only two block away from the Temple. We
really enjoy the sweet spirit we feel there as we do family names that have
been sent to us from Valerie Johnson and Grandma Marilyn Ross.
